In the previous chapter, Darwin (whose wife coincidently was a devout Christian) conceded that life was first breathed into a single organism.
Humanity, was then created from dust, or earthly substance alone. Life started and sustained it for our planet’s entire history, and gave rise to us: sentient, self-aware creatures. The most basic life components needed, such as amino acids and vitamins, have been found on ice grains inside asteroids and in the most extreme environments on Earth. Figuring out how these parts combined to form the first life is one of biology's biggest hurdles. And so, there was the beginning and then the garden, and it was in this very garden man found himself literally as well as figuratively. Yahweh ensured that His Universe and His chosen species should be so designed, that the latter should make sense of the former.
The Creation of man is described as the pinnacle of Yahweh's creative activity. God has identified human beings at the focal point of his attention, to redeem them for Himself and to live with them always. The nature of man on Earth was shaped after the nature of things in Heaven, and humans possessed all things held as potential within himself, except Divine life. But he was yet an untrained, undisciplined child, still nurtured simply upon the comforting embrace of the visible, which is Earth and the material Universe.
However, human beings could not know things, not of Earth. Spirit alone, could soothe him. They were granted the exclusive right of regular communication with Yahweh (Genesis 2:15-17; 3:8) One adult male and one female was appointed, not entirely as the progenitors of our race but also as Yahweh's agents, His curators and caretakers over Creation and they would hold dominion over Yahweh's complete earthly estate. He breathed into man the breath of Eternal Life. As the sun makes light and Fire spread heat, so does the Central Light give forth an un-seeable glow, and this our fathers called the Breath of Yahweh. Into Adam’s sleeping Body Yahweh implanted a figment of Himself, the Seed of a Sensitive consciousness/soul and within him was a spark from that Creator Source. A human being “the mortal” became human beings “the heir of Yahweh”. Scripture explicitly differentiates the origin of soul from the origin of the Body (Ecclesiastes 12:7; Isaiah 42:5; Zechariah 12:1;
Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reference: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
As the Spirit filled the Body of man, so did Yahweh fill His Creation. Aristotle uses his familiar matter/form distinction to define First actuality as a capacity to enlist in an action. They both were made with a certain configuration, with the characteristics of mind, emotions, personality, and will. Since form is what makes matter “the sensitive soul“ is the form of a living thing. Not its shape, but its actuality. Man, were created "in His image" (Genesis 1:26-27), and were made creative, imaginative, inventive, artistic, capable of loving and being loved and above all, able to worship. Had human beings not been created, who would have known Yahweh's Wisdom and power?
There are three levels of consciousness:
The First level is primal (our virgin soul), the second level is our present consciousness (the soul being dominated by some divine influence), and the third level is the Divine Spirit, the one we are about to enter. The Bible never confuses the Divine Spirit and first two states of the Soul as though they are the same. The dominant force in the soul brings about the possibility that man, likewise, could take an environment contrary to the perfect ways of Yahweh, due to the wrong motivational intent. When Yahweh raised man up from among the beasts, choosing him as His heir and endowing him with an immortal Spirit, the limited understanding of man saw imperfection in that which was stark for its determination. Thus, if we have been made in “His image” Yahweh’s form must also consist of Yahweh’s actuality or potential. An unlimited potential! But as long as Theosophy, the science of the Spirit, has not enlarged our conceptions, and the art of laying bare the soul, is not learned, our eyes will be left unopened. After the Fall, there were only two human conditions left around the Earth; the Body and the untrained Soul.
From this it followed that reward or punishment is sent to the human race. The mortal, should therefore be judged and punished (or rewarded) so that his eyes will open and he will see: he is not tried for his misdeeds, but for choosing with the wrong intention, the wrong dominant force for his Soul. Not for his bad thoughts or actions, in which he bears no actual free choice, but for not selecting a sound strategy and careful restraint. Here, man undoubtedly has a prospect to freely choose. Liberating ourselves from the egoistic bonds and revaluing the property of bestowal becomes our realization of liberal decision. We must make a choice, a determination for good or evil. People must employ in our soul lives the very thing that we choose to experience in our world, love. By choosing how to grow Spiritually, we find our stance in both the initial and the second lives.
There now is the invisible "within" which, was a place of Light and a place of darkness. If the Enemy does not succeed in drawing us into darkness, he strains to hold us in the category of the lukewarm, which is just as displeasing to God. The soul, the organ of our personality, is composed of mind, desire and emotion. It appears as though the soul is Master of all actions, for the Body always follows its direction. Before the Fall of man, however, the soul, in spite of its many activities, was governed by the Spirit of Yahweh. And this is the Order God still wants: First the Spirit, then the submissive soul, and lastly the Body. There is The World, You, and the other Forces. Be mindful of which one is controlling you.
